Homage to 46 Wyman (2012)
This was our first apartment in Jamaica Plain. This piece contains a variety of items I collected from the house and saved for “future” use. At the time I had no idea these assorted relics would eventually become a tribute piece for our first home. Djembe-African Drum (2016)
The shape of this traditional African drum (pronounced Gem-bay) has always appealed to me not to mention its resonant sound. This drum is 50% larger than a traditional djembe. The outside of the drum is fabricated with pieces of scrap steel from my studio. The top expresses the sheer energy and exuberance from the sound. The three decorative 'stars' adorning the base are gas fixtures from a Thermador cooktop a friend was replacing. |

Outdoor Garden Piece
(2015; revised in 2017) This piece, made from heavy gauge copper ductwork used in an old boiler, was a perfect fit in the garden. Copper has such a beautiful earthy color and looks even better as it ages. I created one version of this garden piece in 2015 and decided to simplify the design. IN 2021, the sculpture was repatriated to the neighbors who originally gave me the ductwork. |
